Predicting grapevine starch levels using infrared spectroscopy
Abstract
Proof of concept for a simple, fast and accurate spectroscopy method was proposed for determining starch content of grapevine using Near-Infrared (NIR) and Mid-Infra Red (MIR) spectroscopy. The potential of this approach was assessed by comparison with traditional wet chemistry determination of starch. Cane samples from five different vineyards from Southern Tasmania were used in this study. Strong correlations were obtained for NIR (R2 = 0.89 and RMSECV = 0.66) and MIR (R2 = 0.72 and RMSECV = 1.11).
