Applying value proposition design to collective strategic actions in family wineries: enhancing territorial resources in Vale dos Vinhedos, Brazil

Abstract

The study aims to propose collective strategic actions for family wineries, promoting their competitiveness and the valorization of territorial resources. The research was conducted in Vale dos Vinhedos (VV), in Bento Gonçalves, a region with the largest concentration of family-run agribusinesses focused on wine tourism in Brazil. The official registration of family wineries in Brazil is recent and was possible by legislation in 2014, with subsequent flexibility in tax classification in 2018. The study is based on the concepts of territory and territorial assets, considering that territorial development depends on the mobilization of endogenous resources and the articulation between local agents, public and private sectors. The information was analyzed and systematized using the Territorial Capital Panel (TCP) methodology and value proposition design. The definition of collective strategic actions was based on the Business Model Canvas, and the proposal was validated with the producers in a workshop. As the main collective strategic action, the creation of the Family Wineries Tourist Itinerary of Vale dos Vinhedos was proposed.
