Rules of ethical conduct

At IVES, scientific integrity is a core value. To ensure transparency, fairness and trust throughout the editorial process, we have established a set of rules of ethical conduct that apply to the publication of scientific and technical articles in OENO One and IVES Technical Reviews.

These rules outline:

  • The general ethical principles based on the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (ALLEA, 2023),
  • A list of critical rules that must be strictly followed by editors-in-chief (EiC), associate editors (AE) and reviewers (RW) during manuscript evaluation.
Critical rules EiC AE RW
AE and RW can’t be co-authors of the paper x x
AE and RW can’t be from the same affiliation as the author x x
Editors should consider the conflict-of-interest declaration from AE/RW and withdraw the manuscript attribution if necessary x x
EiC should explain a “desk rejection” to the authors x x
Decision taken based on at least two reviews (except in case of a “desk rejection”) x
All decision on the original manuscript (concluding the first review round) must be supported by a comment explain the decision, even if the paper is accepted x
From the second review round, all decision (except acceptance as is) should be supported by a comment x
Disrespectful, degrading and impolite comments (including insults) are prohibited. x x x

These rules prevent conflicts of interest and promote responsible peer review practices. If a manuscript’s editorial treatment breaches any of these critical ethical rules, it will be suspended pending a decision by the IVES Executive Committee.

By adhering to these standards, IVES reaffirms its commitment to publishing high-quality, trustworthy, and ethically reviewed scientific and technical content.
