OENO One | Recruitment of two additional editors-in-chief

OENO One is a leading international peer-reviewed journal in vine and wine sciences, published by the International Viticulture and Enology Society (IVES). The journal was created in 2016 and has two editors-in-chief (one for oenology and one for viticulture) and a board composed of more than 70 associate editors. Due to its continuous growth, OENO One aims to increase the number of editors-in-chief to four (two for oenology, two for viticulture). Therefore, two editor-in-chief positions are open, one for oenology and one for viticulture.

Position description

The candidate will collaborate with the three editors-in-chief to conduct an initial assessment of submitted articles. The total annual submission volume of OENO One is approximately 200 articles/year, meaning that each editor-in-chief handles approximately 50 articles/year.

After the first reading of an article, editors-in-chief may either reject the article or forward it to a specialized associate editor within one week. The associate editors will take full responsibility for choosing reviewers and making the final decision on the article. However, the editors-in-chief must be available to support the associate editors if needed.

The editors-in-chief will use the OENO One platform to manage submissions, ensuring adherence to the journal’s editorial policy and respect for deadlines. Close collaboration with the editorial team, particularly the editorial manager, is essential.

Additionally, the editors-in-chief will participate in the OENO One Editorial Strategy Working Group (approximately four meetings per year) to discuss and propose improvements to editorial processes.

Furthermore, the editors-in-chief are responsible for promoting the journal and the association, advocating Open Access. The editors-in-chief are responsible for implementing the editorial policy and overseeing the renewal of the associate editors board according to the themes that need coverage.

The editors-in-chief will also play a role in coordinating the annual meeting of associate editors and contributing to the annual reporting process.
