Un “GIS” agronomico per l’area a DOC dei Colli Euganei

Abstract

L’area a “Denominazione di Origine Controllata Colli Euganei”, riconosciuta con Dpr 13 agosto 1969, è situata a sud-ovest della Provincia di Padova (fig. 1) ed è costituita da un sis­tema collinare di nuclei vulcanici evolutosi morfologicamente. La viticoltura rappresenta un’attività agricola di assoluta rilevanza nella zona, sia in termini di superficie investita, che di produzione lorda vendibile. La produzione vitivinicola locale è supportata dal Consorzio vini DOC dei Colli Euganei, da anni impegnato nel realizzare quell’evoluzione tecnica, sia in vigneto che in cantina, che sia in grado di sfruttare il notevole potenziale qualitativo esistente. Con legge regionale n. 38 del 10.10,89 è stato istituito il Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei, i cui compiti sono quelli di tutelare i caratteri naturalistici, storici ed ambientali dei territorio e di promuovere le attività economiche tradizionali e compatibili con le esigenze di tutela dell’ambiente.

Skin And Seed Extracts Differently Behave Towards Salivary Proteins

Background: Polyphenols extracted from skins and seeds showed different sensory attributes including astringency and bitterness. In previous studies, it has been demonstrated that extracts obtained either from skins or seeds interact differently with salivary proteins.

Characterization of variety-specific changes in bulk stomatal conductance in response to changes in atmospheric demand and drought stress

In wine growing regions around the world, climate change has the potential to affect vine transpiration and overall vineyard water use due to related changes in atmospheric demand and soil water deficits. Grapevines control their transpiration in response to a changing environment by regulating conductance of water through the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum. Most vineyard water use models currently estimate vine transpiration by applying generic crop coefficients to estimates of reference evapotranspiration, but this does not account for changes in vine conductance associated with water stress, nor differences thought to exist between varieties. The response of bulk stomatal conductance to daily weather variability and seasonal drought stress was studied on Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Ugni blanc, and Semillon vines in a non-irrigated vineyard in Bordeaux France. Whole vine sap flow, temperature and humidity in the vine canopy, and net radiation absorbed by the vine canopy were measured on 15-minute intervals from early July through mid-September 2020, together with periodic measurement of leaf area, canopy porosity, and predawn leaf water potential. From this data, bulk stomatal conductance was calculated on 15-minute intervals, and multiple regression analysis was performed to identify key variables and their relative effect on conductance. Attention was focused on addressing multicollinearity and time-dependency in the explanatory variables and developing regression models that were readily interpretable. Variability of vapor pressure deficit over the day, and predawn water potential over the season explained much of the variability in conductance, with relative differences in response coefficients observed across the five varieties. By characterizing this conductance response, the dynamics of vine transpiration can be better parameterized in vineyard water use modeling of current and future climate scenarios.

Integrated multiblock data analysis for improved understanding of grape maturity and vineyard site contributions to wine composition and sensory domains

Much research has sought to define the complex contribution of terroir (varieties x site x cultural practices) on wine composition. This investigation applied recent advances in chemometrics to determine relative contributions of vine growth, berry maturity and site mesoclimate to wine composition and sensory profiles of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon for two vintages.

Preliminary studies of zoning applications in Goriška Brda (Collio) winegrowing region, Slovenia

Goriška Brda est la région viticole située le plus à l’ouest de la Slovénie, attenante au Collio d’Italie. Goriška Brda (2020 ha de vignobles) a une longue tradition d’élevage viticole. La proximité de la mer Adriatique (Golfe de Trieste) au sud-ouest et des Alpes Juliennes au nord contribue à un climat caractéristique et unique qui influe sur la croissance et la fertilité de la vigne. La constitution des sols, un climat typique et un relief mouvementé provoquent des différences dans la production du raisin, sa quantité et sa qualité. L’utilisation du zonage ou du microzonage permettraient d’atténuer les influences des facteurs climatiques et du sol sur la production de la vigne ou d’en profiter. Pour évaluer la signification des différents facteurs, nous avons résumé et réuni les modèles de différents auteurs.

The impact of sustainable management regimes on amino acid profiles in grape juice, grape skin flavonoids, and hydroxycinnamic acids

One of the biggest challenges of agriculture today is maintaining food safety and food quality while providing ecosystem services such as biodiversity conservation, pest and disease control, ensuring water quality and supply, and climate regulation. Organic farming was shown to promote biodiversity and carbon sequestration, and is therefore seen as one possibility of environmentally friendly production. Consumers expect organically grown crops to be free from chemical pesticides and mineral fertilizers and often presume that the quality of organically grown crops is different or higher compared to conventionally grown crops. Integrated, organic, and biodynamic viticulture were compared in a replicated field trial in Geisenheim, Germany (Vitis vinifera L. cv. Riesling). Amino acid profiles in juice, grape skin flavonoids, and hydroxycinnamic acids were monitored over three consecutive seasons beginning 7 years after conversion to organic and biodynamic viticulture, respectively. In addition, parameters such as soil nutrient status, yield, vigor, canopy temperature, and water stress were monitored to draw conclusions on reasons for the observed changes. Results revealed that the different sustainable management regimes highly differed in their amino acid profiles in juice and also in their skin flavonol content, whereas differences in the flavanol and hydroxycinnamic acid content were less pronounced. It is very likely that differences in nutrient status and yield determined amino acid profiles in juice, although all three systems showed similar amounts of mineralized nitrogen in the soil. Canopy structure and temperature in the bunch zone did not differ among treatments and therefore cannot account for the observed differences in favonols. A different light exposure of the bunches in the respective systems due to differences in vigor together with differences in berry size and a different water status of the vines might rather be responsible for the increase in flavonol content under organic and biodynamic viticulture.
