Use of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (ML PrimeTm) to improve malolactic fermentation of catarratto wine subjected to long post-fermentative maceration.

AIM: Lactiplantibacillus plantarum species is wordwide used as starter for malolactic fermentation [1,2]. For the first time, in the present study, the use of L. plantarum (ML PrimeTM, Lallemand wine) to produce white wines with post-fermentative maceration extended until 60 days has been investigated.

Profiling the Metschnikowia yeast populations in spontaneous fermentation of Amarone della Valpolicella

The microbial diversity during spontaneous grape must fermentation has a determinant influence on the chemical composition and sensory properties of wine. Therefore, yeast diversity is an important target to better understand wine regionality. Hence, the aim of this study was to isolate, identify, and characterize the yeast core microbiota in grape must during the early stage of lab-scale spontaneous fermentation of withered grapes to produce Amarone della Valpolicella wine (Verona, Italy).

Contribution of soil for tipifiyng wines in four geographical indications at Serra Gaúcha, Brazil

Brazil has a recent history on geographical indications and product regulation for high quality wines. The first geographic indication implemented was the Vale dos Vinhedos Indication of Procedence (

Optimizing protocol for a rapid and cost effective DNA isolation for Marker Assisted Selection pipeline

Grapevine is a plant that holds significant socioeconomic importance due to its production of grapes for fresh consumption, wines, and juices. However, climate changes and susceptibility to diseases pose a threat to the quality and yield of these products. The breeding of new genotypes that are resistant/tolerant to biotic and abiotic stresses is essential to overcome the impact of climate changes. In this regard, Marker-assisted selection (MAS), which uses DNA markers, is a crucial tool in breeding programs. The efficiency and economy of this method depend on finding rapid DNA isolation methods.

Dialing in remote measurements of grapevine water stress by incorporating whole plant physiological responses

Context and purpose of the study. Current remote sensing strategies rely heavily on reflectance data and energy balance modelling using thermal imagery to estimate crop water use and stress.
