Terroir in Slovak viticulture area

Abstract

Terroir method has been used for assessment of growing site in the world for years. In Slovakia actually regionalisation is used as the similar method which does not cover all the elements of wine quality evaluation however. Terroir is the complex embracing climatic conditions, character of region, growing technology, and that of wine production. Marking of wine according to region (terroir) guarantees the fact that wine has given characteristics which are irredeemable together with the high and permanent quality also the amount of customers and due to that it gains stabile place on the market.

Developmental and genetic mechanisms underlying seedlessness in grapevine somatic variants

Seedless table grapes are greatly appreciated for fresh and dry consumption. There is also some interest in seedless winegrapes, because the combination of lower fruit set, smaller berries with higher skin/pulp ratio and looser bunches with the absence of seeds in crushed berries, a possible source of astringent tannins, might also have favorable effects on wine quality.
The gene VviAGL11 has been shown to play a central role in stenospermocarpy in Sultanina, but the molecular bases of other sources of stenospermocarpy as well as of parthenocarpy have not been clarified yet.

NEUROPROTECTIVE AND ANTI-INFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES OF HYDROXYTYROSOL: A PROMISING BIOACTIVE COMPONENT OF WINE

Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is a phenolic compound present in olives, virgin olive oil and wine. HT has attracted great scientific interest due to its biological activities which have been related with the ortho-dihydroxy conformation in the aromatic ring. In white and red wines, HT has been detected at concentrations ranging from 0.28 to 9.6 mg/L and its occurrence has been closely related with yeast metabolism of aromatic amino acids by Ehrlich pathway during alcoholic fermentation. One of the most promising properties of this compound is the neuroprotective activity against pathological mechanisms related with neurode-generative disorders including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Valorisation of integrated research on vineyard soils. Adaptation to the Val de Loire vineyard
