The Grenache observatory was created in 1995. The object of this 24 parcels network, covering main Rhone Valley soils, is to state the effect of pedo-climatic conditions on plant physiology and wine characteristics. The results concerning colour and tanins show a very important diversity in Grenache behaviour.
As observed in other grape varieties, Red Grenache juice contains low level of volatiles. The main flavor compounds are " Iock up "as flavorless glycoconjugates which could generate at the wine pH volatile flavorants and constitute the varietal aroma of this cultivar.
Nel 1990 la Cantina LA VIS ha intrapreso un progetto di zonazione dei terreni vitati allo scopo di acquisire le conoscenze scientifiche atte a consentire il miglioramento delle qualità dei prodotti. Tale progetto si è articolato su di una superficie di 2000 ettari ubicati lungo l'asta fluviale del fiume Adige da Trento a Salorno e del torrente Avisio da Lavis a Segonzano.

The present work concerns the "zonation” of this area, constituted by 3 valleys Tidone (A), Nure (B) and Arda (C )
