Il Cabernet di Atina dal 1850 al giorni nostri: un esempio di valorizzazione del territorio

Abstract

In the province of Frosinone from 1850 they are cultivated in some zones wine grape of French origin like Merlot, Cabernet franc Cabernet sauvignon, Sirah, Pinot noir. The insertion of these varieties was the work of Pasquale Visocchi in the great company of family “Fratelli Visocchi Proprietari” (F. V.P.). He comprised the potentialities of the new varieties in relation to the pedo-climatic characteristics of the local condition. In this zone original red wine was produced and appreciated from Italian and international markets. “F. P. V. ” company, in the sixties for several problem, closed and the original farm was fragmentized. Today the enology activity is exclusively to the familiar consumption, it supplies grapes of optimal quality. The produced grapes are very fine but not the wines.
Although the great vocation to the viticulture of this discrete remains. The necessity to value this district, with particular reference to Atina and the adjacent zones has placed the necessity to recover also the enology vocation of these zones. For this scope the “Istituto Sperimentale per l’Enologia” s.o.p. of Velletri in collaboration with the local agencies has started a plan with the objective to supply useful indications in order to start a qualified enology activity.

The effect of sulfur compounds on the formation of varietal thiols in Sauvignon Blanc and Istrian Malvasia wines

Varietal thiols 3-sulfanylhexan-1-ol (3SH), 3-sulfanylhexyl acetate (3SHA) and 4-methyl-4-sulfanylpentan-2-one (4SMP) are essential for fruity aromas of Sauvignon Blanc wines. The concentration of varietal thiols in wines was thought to be related to the concentration of their precursors in grapes, however only a small proportion of precursors are released to varietal thiols during fermentation. New findings suggested that specific grape juice metabolites could significantly impact on the development of three major varietal thiols and other aroma compounds of Sauvignon Blanc wines.

Impact of crop load management on terpene content in gewürztraminer grapes

Context and purpose of the study ‐ Crop load management by cluster thinning can improve ripening and the concentration of key metabolites for grape and wine quality. However, little work has been done on testing the impact of crop load management on terpene content of white grapes. Field irrigation experiments were performed on young « Nonpareil » almond trees, mature « Bartlett » pear trees and mature « Pinot Noir » grapevines, to determine the relation of a number of alternative measures of plant water status (predawn and midday stem and leaf water potential), to a number of indices of plant physiological activity (leaf conductance, vegetative growth and fruit growth and composition).
