Abstract

L’identification des produits par le nom de la ville, de la région, de la province d’origine d’un produit tend aujourd’hui à se développer partout dans le monde et notamment dans le secteur agro-alimentaire, mais aussi dans les secteurs des produits artisanaux.
La France et notamment l’Institut National des Appellations d’Origine sont aujourd’hui fortement sollicités de toutes les régions du monde pour faire part de leur expérience en la matière.

Yeast diversity in Vitis labrusca l. Ecosystems

Although there are detailed studies on the microbiota of Vitis vinifera L. grapes, little is known about the diversity of yeast communities present in non-vinifera Vitis ecosystems (i.e., grapes and spontaneously fermenting grape musts). Potentially scientific and/or enological valuable yeast strains from these non-vinifera Vitis ecosystems might never be isolated from V. vinifera L. Using a standard culture-dependent strategy, we studied the population of yeast species during initial stages of spontaneous fermentation of V. labrusca L. (Isabella) grape musts. Rare non-Saccharomyces yeast species were recognized in Isabella, including Candida azymoides, Pichia cecembensis, Candida californica, Candida bentonensis, Issatchenkia hanoiensis and Candida apicola.

Big data analysis of pesticides from the vine to the winery

Of biocontrol products and resistant grape varieties, synthetic pesticides are still widely used to control fungal diseases and protect vines from potential damage caused by pests. The use of pesticides is strictly regulated, and their use can sometimes lead to transfer from the grapes to the must and then into the wine. The study of pesticide residues in grapes and wines is commonly carried out by wine producers in order, among other things, to optimize treatment routes, check that products comply with regulations, and ultimately guarantee the food safety of the wine.

Diversity of leaf functioning under water deficit in a large grapevine panel: high throughput phenotyping and genetic analyses

Water resource is a major limiting factor impacted by climate change that threatens grapevine production and quality. Understanding the ecophysiological mechanisms involved in the response to water deficit is crucial to select new varieties more drought tolerant. A major bottleneck that hampers such advances is the lack of methods for measuring fine functioning traits on thousands of plants as required for genetic analyses. This study aimed at investigating how water deficit affects the trade-off between carbon gains and water losses in a large panel representative of the Vitis vinifera genetic diversity. 250 genotypes were grown under 3 watering scenarios (well-watered, moderate and severe water deficit) in a high-throughput phenotyping platform.

Dynamic agrivoltaics, climate protection for grapevine driven by artificial intelligence

The year-on-year rise in temperatures and the increase in extreme weather events due to climate change are already having an impact on agriculture. Among the perennial fruit species, grapevine is already negatively impacted by these events through an acceleration of its phenology, more damage from late frosts or through an increase in the sugar level of the berries (and therefore the alcoholic degree of the wine) and a decrease of acidity, impacting the wine quality. Sun’Agri, in partnership with INRAE, Chambre d’agriculture du Vaucluse, Chambre d’agriculture des Pyrénées-Orientales and IFV, developed a protection system based on dynamic agrivoltaics to protect grapevine. It consists of photovoltaic solar panels positioned above the crop, high enough not to impede the passage of agricultural machinery, and tiltable from +/- 90° to adjust the level of shading on the vineyard. These smart louvers, driven by artificial intelligence (physical models & plant growth models), are steered according to the plant’s needs and provide real climate protection.
