n the last years, viticulture precision tools have been made available for farmers for different crops. The feeling that these tools are mandatory on an agriculture of the future have been disseminated by commercial entities but also from policy makers.
Natural Terroir Units (NTU) are being delimited in vine growing area DOCa Rioja, in collaboration with Uruñuela Cooperative, to characterized specific and singular Tempranillo (Vitis vinifera
Managing extraction of tannins and green aroma compounds attributed from methoxypyrazines in winemaking is crucial for producing high quality Pinot noir wine. This study1 investigated the impact of leaf removal on concentrations of anthocyanins, tannins, and methoxypyrazines in Pinot noir grapes and resultant wines.
Grape Phylloxera (Daktulosphaira vitifoliae Fitch) ordinarily has great difficulty establishing leaf galls on the European Grapevine (VitisviniferaL.). Yet populations of leaf-feeding Phylloxera are increasingly being observed throughout commercial vineyards world-wide. Effective plant protection strategies including quarantine actions are currently missing to fight, grape phylloxera populations in affected vineyards and combat linked negative effects on vines and yield. Contrary to the otherwise mandatory continuous infestation pressure from externally established populations (e.g. from populations developed on rootstock foliage or other interspecific hybrids, these leaf-feeding populations seem to establish themselves annually.
