A new Summer School will be offered in Geiseinheim (Germany) from 9 to 13 September: “Preparing for the future – Climate Change Research Methods”.

This summer school, organized and sponsored by Hochschule Geisenheim University, the Doctoral Platform Geisenheim – Giessen – Marburg, l’Université franco-allemande and ISVV – Institut des Sciences de la Vigne et du Vin, Université de Bordeaux introduces students to methods for the study of the impact of climate change on special crops.

Students will delve into topics such as the global carbon cycle and non-CO2 greenhouse gas exchange between soils, plants and the atmosphere. The methodological spectrum covered in lectures and hands-on experiments ranges from various ways of gas exchange measurements, the use of isotopes in ecosystem studies and statistical methods to analyze large datasets. In addition to these scientific methods, students will be introduced to different communication techniques applied to the special challenges of conveying climate change facts as well as other scientific results to a non-scientific community.

The Summer School is open to all Master’s or PhD students.
Summer School classes are free and will be taught in English. Housing and transportation must be paid by the participants. A small number of scholarships may be available.
