New methods and technologies to describe the environment (T2010)

Des expérimentations sur Gamay ont été réalisées en Beaujolais de 2000 à 2006 sur 10 parcelles d’AOC différentes. De nombreuses mesures ont été effectuées à différents stades (vigne, baies récoltées, vinification et bouteille avec ou sans vieillissement). Ces mesures sont également de natures différentes (données phénologiques, analytiques, dégustation). Des analyses de la composition des sols sont également disponibles.

Satellite images are used to determine the reflectance dependency to wavelength in different grape varieties (Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay). The terroir influence is investigated through study of vineyards in France, Brazil and Chile.

Depuis le millésime 2002, une étude est menée sur la diversité de la flore fongique de parcelles du cépage chenin, situées essentiellement sur les appellations de Vouvray et Montlouis ; deux appellations séparées par le fleuve nommé la Loire. Les parcelles se situent dans des conditions pédoclimatiques différentes, qui se retrouvent au travers des suivis de maturité et l’état sanitaire.

In this study we have compared the predictive ability of two phenological models: a traditional Thermal Time (TT) and a version of the more recently develop Unified Model (UM).

The aim of the project was to characterize the Premium Denomination of Guaranteed Origin (DOCG) “Colline Teramane” wine-growing region and to delineate and define homogeneous zones (terroir units) within it, by applying a multivariate clustering approach combined with geomatics.

A total of 39 study sites from 11 commercial vineyards located in two traditional growing areas of Northern Italy were identified for airborne hyperspectral acquisition in summer 2009 with the Aisa-EAGLE Airborne Hyperspectral Imaging Sensor.

The physical factors that influence the grape ripening include elevation, slope, aspect, potential global radiation, sun hours and soil type of the vineyards.

Nel biennio 2008-2009, nell’ambito di un progetto multidisciplinare coordinato e finanziato dal Consorzio Tuscania, 4 vigneti in differenti zone della Toscana sono stati monitorati con strumenti di proximal sensing al fine di valutare la variabilità riscontrabile e ottenere delle indicazioni sulle risposte vegetative delle piante e quanti-qualitative delle produzioni.

Many high quality Open Source scientific applications have been available for a long time. Some of them have proved to be particularly useful for carrying out the usual activities involved in viticultural research projects, such as statistical analyses (including spatial analyses), GIS work, database management (possibly integrated with statistical and spatial analysis) and even “low-level” often highly time-consuming activities (e.g. repetitive task on text files).

The Douro Demarcated Region, in Northern Portugal, offers outstanding wines with unique characteristics. Due to the today’s globalized marketplace, local producers often need to further develop their cultivation techniques to remain competitive. The Association of Viticultural Development in the Douro Valley (ADVID) works as a unit of experimentation, offering services and training to meet the demands of the Douro’s vitiviniculturists.

A 3-year study was carried out in order to evaluate the ecophysiology, yield and quality characteristics of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Kékfrankos (syn. Limberger) at Eger-Nagyeged hill (steep slope) and at Eger-Kőlyuktető (flat) vineyard sites located in the Eger wine region, Hungary.

La viticoltura dovrebbe essere vista in funzione dell’obiettivo enologico che si vuole realizzare e quindi particolare importanza riveste il risultato delle vinificazioni delle uve provenienti dai vigneti delle diverse aree della zona di produzione oggetto d’indagine. La zonazione dell’area a DOC Monti Lessini Durello ha preso in esame la varietà “Durella”, vitigno autoctono del territorio, che rappresenta la maggior parte della produzione vitivinicola della zona.
